Goodbye 2022 | The 3rd Kunlun Golf Open (Yangtze River Cup) Concludes Successfully

The belated arrival of summer has given Adelaide golfers a long spring to enjoy golf. Before the temperatures soar...The Yangtze River Cup - The 3rd Kunlun Golf OpenThe event concluded perfectly on December 19th at the beautiful West Beach Golf Park, bringing Kunlun's 2022 golf journey to a successful close. 

 

Nearly 60 golfers participated, further expanding the event's reach into a diverse community by successfully inviting friends from South Korea and Malaysia to enjoy this golfing extravaganza. At 9:30 AM, golfers teed off simultaneously on all 18 holes.The clubs whistled through the air.The clubhead strikes the ball with a crisp, pleasant sound.Despite the rising temperatures and strong sea breezes, nothing could dampen the players' enthusiasm for the competition or their determination to surpass themselves. This is probably the charm of sports, and the charm of golf! 

The competition was exciting, and the results were thrilling. The top three winners in each category...Ties occurred in both cases.In such circumstances, the winner of the grand prize is even more of a surprise! 

In the women's group score competition, three players tied for third place, and ultimately the player from South Korea won.Yeon ChoiHe secured third place with the lowest possible handicap.Liu KuiThey once again scored a high score of 32 points, securing second place and steadily progressing towards the championship; the former captain of the North AFC women's club, from Malaysia...Laifong CheongWith 36 points, they took the lead and won the championship!

In the Men's Group C competition, Chen Hai and Calvin Lam, who were participating for the first time, both scored a high score of 38 points, ultimately...CalvinThey finished second by a narrow margin.Chen HaiFinishing third, this is Chen Hai's first club award; he was also the oldest player to participate in this competition.He Wen'anThey scored an astonishing 40 points and won first place in Group C, truly proving that they are still going strong despite their age!

The battle for third place in the Men's Groups A and B became incredibly intense. Michael Zhang and Derek Cheung not only had the same score, but their handicaps were also nearly identical! Ultimately, a tiebreaker match was played.Micheal ZhangLeading by one point on the 18th hole, they secured third place in Groups AB; the battle for the top two spots became an all-Blackwood affair, with Kevin Liu and Han Renxia both scoring an impressive 36 points.Kevin LiuHe won the championship again by a narrow margin;Han RenxiaTo win second place in their first competition demonstrates their impressive strength!

The highlight of the tournament is the gross score competition, featuring two veterans of the Adelaide golf world—Zhang ShunChen Yong—They finished second and third with scores of 81 and 83 respectively; and the champion was once again unexpected—following her previous third-place finish, the South Korean female athlete...Ko YoungNo more regrets! With a one-stroke advantage (80 strokes), he overpowered all the other competitors to become the champion of this event!

A Christmas BBQ party was also held after the race, where everyone gathered to celebrate Christmas and the New Year, and to mark the successful conclusion of Kunlun's competition this year.

It's worth noting that nearly 301 players achieved a TP3T (twice the average score) or exceeded their average score (36 points) in this tournament, with almost half of the players scoring over 30 points. Although Kunlun only hosted three major tournaments in 2022, the rapid improvement in the level of Chinese golf is evident in these three events!Kunlun will continue to bring high-quality competitions to Chinese golfers in Adelaide in the new year, and provide a platform for golfers to exchange ideas and improve their skills through various golf-themed activities.
