[zh]As the new year begins, everything is renewed. Kunlun Golf Club is delighted to step into a new and hopeful 2023 together with our golf enthusiasts! To celebrate the new year, on January 3rd, Kunlun hosted its first tournament of the year – a tournament themed "New".Kunlun Golf Rookie Tournament!

The Kunlun Rookie Competition adopts a "newcomer mentoring newcomer" model.Best Ball Position in Two-Player MatchThis model pairs experienced golfers with higher handicaps with some golf knowledge with beginners. This allows newcomers to experience the thrill of real-world play under the guidance of more experienced players, while ensuring that no one is left without opportunities to perform due to a significant skill gap. Everyone can learn from each other, improve their skills through practice, and foster interest and friendship.

At 1:00 PM sharp, the competition kicked off at the North Course of North Adelaide Golf Club amidst everyone's eager anticipation and slight nervousness! Sixteen golf novices wielded their clubs, beginning their journey in the rookie tournament. Among the newcomers were students from the first four cohorts of the Kunlun Golf Academy, new members of the Kunlun Club, and friends who were eager to play golf but hadn't yet had the chance due to their skill level… We were delighted to see the participation of young players, the youngest being Oscar, who was only 6 years old. Although everyone's swings were a little immature, the passion and fun of the competition were absolutely undiminished.

In this competition, each team was paired with a "veteran novice" to help them get a feel for the game and explain the rules. Additionally, experienced volunteers from the Kunlun Golf Club—Jeff and Fiona—served as course supervisors and technical advisors, demonstrating tactics and techniques in real-world scenarios. Although the purpose was to provide an experience, the skill level of our new friends shouldn't be underestimated. It was common for a newcomer to carry an entire hole, making us realize that "the younger generation surpasses the older"—if we don't practice more, we might soon be left behind!

The competition was filled with laughter and cheers, and the intensity of the match was anything but lacking.Zhang HuaHu JiaqiThe team finished third with a narrow margin of 1.25 strokes.Ben ChanEufie WangThe team finished as runner-up with a score of 69.5; while the champion was...Lincoln ChenAnd those participating in a golf tournament for the first timeDorothy Shen—They won the inaugural Kunlun Rookie Tournament with a score of 68, a 1.5-stroke advantage!

In fact, as a rookie tournament, rankings and prizes are not so important. What is more important is a platform and opportunity for every friend who is new to golf to enjoy the fun of real competition and gradually make golf an indispensable part of their lives. This is also the promise that Kunlun Club made to the Australian Golf Association and to all Chinese golfers when it was founded! In the new year, Kunlun will remain true to its original aspiration and continue to make it one of its main tasks to introduce more Chinese friends to golf and make them love golf, and do its part to promote the development of golf in the Chinese community!
